City of Stockton Facade Loan Project
2022 7,500 sf $285,000

Price Rite Restaurant & Equipment, a local family-owned business, partnered with ARCHITECHNICA to reimagine the façade of their newly purchased circa-1915 building at the corner of Stanislaus Street and Weber Avenue in Downtown Stockton. The project was designed in alignment with the City of Stockton’s Commercial Façade Improvement Forgivable Loan Program, which supports the revitalization of historic and underutilized commercial properties in the city’s core.

ARCHITECHNICA’s design transformed the building exterior with thoughtful updates, including the replacement of outdated black ceramic tile with painted brick, a refreshed contemporary color palette, new signage, and the addition of a hand-painted mural along Stanislaus Street. The mural—titled Bold Lion and painted by Stockton muralist Carlos Lopez—was designed by ARCHITECHNICA as a symbolic beacon of courage, strength, and pride for the local community.

Beyond design, ARCHITECHNICA guided the project through every stage of approval and implementation. Responsibilities included securing entitlements from the Planning Department, review by the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO), coordination with the Building Department, project bidding, and preparation of comprehensive construction documents.

The success of Price Rite’s façade project demonstrates how public-private partnerships can spark visible change in Stockton’s historic core. Inspired by these results, the City of Stockton has since expanded the façade improvement program to other districts. ARCHITECHNICA continues to support local business owners in navigating this process, reinforcing our commitment to community revitalization and the art of community building.
